Speeding offences didn't slow down during the heat wave.

The Combined Traffic Services unit within the Estevan Police Service saw a handful of excessive speeding and impaired driving within city limits throughout the week, according to police reports.

One instance saw an officer issue a ticket for $680 on July 8. According to law enforcement, the individual was driving at 147 km/h when the posted speed limit was 100 km/h. On July 10, in two separate traffic stops, police issued $578 speeding tickets for driving 91 km/h on a 50 km/h zone.

Another driver was found to have failed a mandatory alcohol screening test while driving on Highway 47 north of the city. During the traffic stop, the driver gave breath samples with a result of 70mg%. As per provincial legislation, a 60-day driving suspension was issued to the driver and their vehicle was impounded for three days.

Throughout the week, the Estevan Police Service also responded to reports of a large investment scam, fraud to a local business, theft of recycling and a donation cart, and threats to a family from a man in Regina.
