With the heat wave that's been lingering in the southeast the past few days, running down this dock and jumping into the lake would be a great way to cool off. For whatever reason it took me several minutes to decide how to compose this shot. I wanted the viewer to see the long runway in order to obtain a good speed before launching themselves into the water. This photo was taken in Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba.
I really like the distant colors of the trees and the water that borders the edge of the dock. I walked out and looked to the left and looked to the right, but this composition was the one I chose. I did not jump into the lake; I was keeping in mind the solitude and quietness of the area. All that would have changed in a second had I decided to take the plunge.
