The 2nd annual Holiday Avenue Project Garden Tour had another great year with amazing landscapes and gardens.
Co-chair of the event, Byrna McDermid, says she was happy with the turnout for the event since the tickets sold out, as well as great support from the community in their new addition this year; the garden-themed yard sale.
“This is the second year in a row that the tour has been sold out, so the support that we get from people in the community is very good. We had so many donations of prizes here at the island for their garden yard sale which is great to see.”
The rainbow auction and other beautiful donated and handmade items were a highlight for many since you didn’t need a ticket for the event to enjoy the sale. McDermid shares that the event is expected to take place next year.
“We are hoping for a third annual tour with the success of this one and the one last year. We also have a lot of beautiful gardens in Portage, so we've got some to choose from for next year.”
She adds that there is an exciting project coming up that toward which the funds from the event are going. Although they haven’t announced the project yet, she notes it's always worth it to decorate Portage and make great scenery and decor.
