The following is the RCMP report to July 8, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 62 traffic violations

- 42 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 24 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 21 crimes against property 

- 13 other criminal code

- 12 crimes against person

- 4 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

 

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

June 17, 2024

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in Killarney that was blocking an area used for deliveries. The owner of the lot was advised they could tow the vehicle. The registered owner was contacted to advise the vehicle would be towed.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

Police conducted a curfew check in Killarney. The subject was not at home. Charges are pending.

 

June 19, 2024

Police received a report of an assault in Killarney. A female was arrested and released on an undertaking to have no contact with the victim.

Police received a report of mischief in Deloraine. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a semi crossing the centre line and at inconsistent speeds on highway 10. No plate was observed. Police patrolled the area and were not able to locate this vehicle.

 

June 20, 2024

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police received a report of a fraud in Waskada. No money was lost and there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

June 21, 2024

Police were dispatched through 911 to a domestic disturbance in Killarney. A male was located in the residence and was arrested and charged with assault. He was remanded into custody and taken to Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court.

Police were dispatched to a traffic accident involving a motorcyclist and deer on highway 18. A male was taken to hospital with injuries.

 

June 22, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in the Municipality of Deloraine-Winchester when a sign was damaged. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of an assault in Ninette. The matter is being investigated.

 

June 23, 2024

Police received multiple reports of a possible impaired driver on highway 23. Vehicle description was given to police. Police located the vehicle on Highway 23 near road 105. The roadside screening device was given to the driver which resulted in two fail readings. An immediate roadside prohibition was given to the female driver prohibiting driving for 90 days.

Police received a 911 hang up call. On call back a male reported that his boat had flipped and everybody was safe. The male was not staying on scene to wait for police and wanted to know how to get his boat out of the water. Police called him multiple times but had to leave a voicemail. Police did patrol the area and there was nothing of concern.

Police received a report of a break, enter and theft in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area. The matter is under investigation.

 

June 24, 2024

Police received a report that a power line was on fire in the back lane of Clark Avenue in Killarney. Police attended, the fire was out and Hydro attended.

Police received a report of mischief in Boissevain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a suspicious vehicle complaint with a time delay at least 30 minutes.  An older black colored half ton truck, unknown plate driving around in the RM of Prairie Lakes.  Driver was described as having scruffy face, maybe a short beard.  Reported for information purposes only. 

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the Boissevain-Morton area.

Police received a driving complaint of silver Ford F150 in Waskada. The plate was given to dispatch, but they advised that plate was not on the system or registered to anyone.  The suspect truck was doing burnouts, 4 suspects in truck.  Police tried calling back the complainant to get more information and a left message. No other calls received about this.  

 

June 25, 2024

Police received a 911 call of a suspicious vehicle/person. The person driving asked for gas money and left. The complainant did not have a direction of travel.

Police received a report of mischief on Rossmore Avenue in Killarney. The vehicle and plate were given to police and the matter is under investigation.

Police received a 911 call of a ruptured gas line on Alexander Avenue in Deloraine.  Hydro was notified, and all parties were 100 feet away. Fire Department blocked off the streets and Hydro attended.

911 call of red Dodge truck with Manitoba plate swerving on the road just north of Boissevain.  Police were unable to locate same. 

 

June 26, 2024

Police received a report of a dangerous driver on Highway 3 near Deloraine. A semi with dangerous goods (Placard 3295) passed them doing over 130km/h. No licence plate was provided, and the caller did not know who the driver was. Nothing reported in regard to dangerous driver other than an estimated speed.

Police received a report of 2 youths on a quad driving around Killarney beach area. Police attended and located a parked quad in the parking lot. A female came to the parking lot and said she was driving it earlier. Parents and youth were spoken with and police advised quads could not be driven within Town of Killarney, they needed helmets for both driver and passengers and needed a valid Manitoba driver's license.

 

June 27, 2024

Police received a report of a break, enter and theft in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area. Insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Baldur. Police made patrols around Baldur but the suspect was not located.

 

June 28, 2024

Police received a report that an unknown person had opened a credit card in the complaint’s name from Home Depot. The matter is under investigation by Equifax and Home Depot.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney when damages on a garage were noticed. Reported for information purposes.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Highway #3. Breath demand was given and the male driver received a warning. The driver was issued a 72 hour suspension.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. A property was damaged however there was insufficient evidence to proceed. 

 

June 29, 2024

Police received a report of a stolen truck in Waskada. The truck was later located and the matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting an argument in Boissevain. A male was located, arrested for uttering threats and lodged in Killarney until sober. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a later date. 

 

June 30, 2024

Police received a report of an assault in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an assault at Rock Lake. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an intoxicated male in Killarney. Police attended and spoke with the male and determined he was waiting for a ride. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a missing youth at Adam Lake. While on route, police received an update from telecom's that the youth was located safe.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester.

 

July 1, 2024

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Waskada.

While on patrol police located an intoxicated female at the Killarney Mall. The female was picked up by family.

Police received a report of sexual exploitation. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Hartney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a suspicious clear plastic container, located at the rest stop on Hwy# 21 at Rd 2N.  It is a little box people can leave notes in, but someone left a clear container with pipe and marihuana residue.  Police attended, and located the drug paraphernalia and same was destroyed.

 

July 2, 2024

Police received an anonymous complainant of an impaired driver in the RM of Prairie Lakes. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a 911 call under the 911 act with an unknown location in Killarney. Police completed patrols of Killarney however were not able to locate any emergencies. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Baldur. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an intoxicated person at a residence in Killarney. Police attended and a female was arrested and lodged in Killarney until sober.

Police responded to a 911 call under the 911 act in Killarney.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in a backyard in Killarney. Complainant was reporting for information purposes.

Police received a call under the family law act in Boissevain. Police provided direction to the caller as the situation was not a police matter.

Police received a report of Mischief in Killarney. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of mischief in Waskada. Before police arrived to the property, they were informed the parties involved were no longer on the property. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

July 3, 2024

Police received a report of fraud in Boissevain. The complainants phone, email and Facebook had been hacked and money was lost. Police followed up however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Boissevain.

 

July 4, 2024

Police received a report under the controlled drugs and substance act in Hartney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a 911 call for a house fire in the RM of Grasslands. There was no major injuries and the fire was deemed not suspicious.

Police received a report of driving without due care in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in Deloraine.

 

July 5, 2024

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

Police received a report of a breach of peace in Baldur. Police followed up with the complainant and provided additional information on their options moving forward as the situation was not a police matter.

Police received a report of dangerous driving in Killarney. Very little vehicle information was able to be provided, therefore there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

 

July 6, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. The matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call for police assistance in Killarney. Upon arrival police spoke with all parties involved and were able to provide assistance. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of harassment in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call for a wellbeing check in the RM of Grasslands. A male was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant who stated they were reporting for information purposes only.

 

July 7, 2024

While on patrol in Killarney, police observed a vehicle drive out of the ditch and onto the street. Police conducted a traffic stop. The roadside screening device was given to the driver which resulted in two fail readings. An immediate roadside prohibition was given to the female driver prohibiting driving for 90 days and the vehicle was towed.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police assisted with a matter under the mental health act in Boissevain.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
