Your morning coffee is going to hit a little differently on Wednesday.

Tim Hortons Camp Day is back which means 100 per cent of the proceeds from all coffee and iced coffee sales will go to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

There are a total of seven Tim Hortons Foundation Camps across Canada and the U.S., which support underserved youth

The owner of both of the Tim Hortons locations in High River, Kevin Generoux, has seen the effect that these fundraisers have.

"When it opened it just had wooden slat bunkhouses, it was a very basic camp. It's been renovated, and I've been there recently, and there are fireplaces in the bunkhouse corners, meeting rooms in the bunkhouses, and there are horses out there. These are all paid for through Camp Day Foundations, and half of our money is raised through Camp Day."

These fundraisers are always highlights of the year for Generoux, especially knowing they start as local events that bloom into widespread initiatives.

"A lot of these great programs are driven locally by owners in the community. Smile Cookies, an owner wanted to help a hospital and started selling cookies. The jersey program, the Timbit Hockey, was started by an owner whose kids didn't have jerseys, they were all tattered. He said 'I'm going to start buying jerseys and equipment,' and Tim Hortons said 'We're going to help you out,' and that's how we have Timbits Hockey with 300,000 kids in the program."

Tim Hortons Foundation Camps was founded in the same fashion, and Generoux says this year marks a significant milestone for the foundation.

"It's the 50th anniversary of the Children's Foundation where there's been over a quarter billion dollars raised and over 300,000 kids that have gone through the program in the last 50 years. Tim Hortons is also celebrating 60 years. It's a big year for Tim Hortons, it's a big year for giving back."

For those who don't have a taste for coffee, donations can also be made by purchasing Camp Day donuts, bracelets, and badges, or by rounding up orders online or in person.

Sun Country 99.7 will be on location at the Tim Horton's locations in High River from 6 - 9 a.m.

More information on the vent can be seen on the Tims Camps website.
