The Weyburn and Area Heritage Village and Soo Line Historical Museum are open for the summer. Both facilities will be open every Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Soo Line Museum holds various displays about the history of Weyburn. Exhibits include information about the Historic Weyburn Mental Hospital, artifacts from yesterday’s Weyburn, and even boasts the world's largest private silver collection.

Leisure Services Manager for the City of Weyburn, and liaison for the Heritage Village and the Soo Line Historical Museum, Amanda Wallace, shares on what’s upcoming for the museum.

“At Soo Line (museum) they are working on formulating a new display. It is not ready yet. So once it is, we will let the public know that there is something to go and see.”

The heritage village is a replica of a turn of the century town, it’s designed to give the observer a taste of what history looked like in this area. Staff have been restoring key equipment at the village and are gearing up for Heritage Village Days on Friday, August 9th, and Saturday, August 10th.

They also have volunteer positions available, anyone looking to volunteer can contact them via phone or email.

Wallace regards both attractions as great places to visit with the family this summer.

“It's always interesting to see what's in our backyard, so to speak. So it's really quite an eye-opener if you haven't been to go in and take a tour throughout both of the facilities, because they hold a wealth of knowledge, and our team is ready to provide you with that wealth of knowledge.”
