The Weyburn Young Fellows Club made a $4000 contribution to Inclusion Weyburn through providing a sensory swing to the sensory room at the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre.

Jackie Wilson, president of Inclusion Weyburn, calls the swing a “wonderful thing to have in our sensory room”.

“It's for children to use when they come to the camp here at the Spark Centre. A number of children from Inclusion Weyburn are participants in the camp and so Inclusion Weyburn sets up this sensory room and the children use it to self-regulate. They tend to sometimes get really anxious or stressed and they need to calm down and they use the equipment in this room.”

Wilson says the swing is specialized to accommodate all ages and sizes of children and can even house different attachments for different needs.

Inclusion Weyburn approached the Young Fellows for support with this purchase, Dwain McKnight with the Young Fellows says they were eager to help.

“The club has been engaged in this organization for a while, helping them out, and we were approached again looking for an opportunity to support again and we just jumped right on board.”

McKnight also describes why the donation was significant to the Young Fellows.

“The Young Fellows believe basically that everybody should be treated equally, and we do our part in the community to help out that and I'm glad to be here to support it.”

Wilson says the addition to the sensory room is well used and the kids love it.
