A fast-rising Canadian Christian artist has had over a million streams on her first single 'Flowers,' and she talks about the valley that brought her to this place.

Samantha Ebert lives in Ottawa and released her first single 'Flowers' on April 19, 2024. Since then, it's hit Canadian radio airwaves and climbed to the top 10 on Canadian Christian radio charts in July.

"Writing it wasn't difficult because it was my honest prayer, asking God for guidance," says Ebert. "Releasing it into the world, I did it and didn't realize how many people would hear the song. It's been a little more vulnerable after it's been out."

Some lyrics to the song mention Ebert being shut in her room for over 70 days. Ebert shares the reason for that.

"I ended up getting really sick with Lyme disease last fall and I was bedridden for about four months. I wasn't able to do much except sit in my room and write music every day. Those days were very long and difficult."

Ebert still struggles with some of the symptoms of Lyme disease, but says it's gotten to a more manageable place now.

"I got through it daily, just not looking at the whole. I took everything day by day, spending time with people, and praying a lot. I looked for the good on the hard days. Those flowers, I like to describe them as character traits that I got to see because I went through something difficult. I wouldn't have had that opportunity to grow in my relationship with God or as a person if I didn't go through something difficult. I'm starting to see those flowers more and more every day."

People interested in hearing more from Ebert, including new music coming out shortly, can follow her on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

"It's really amazing to see God take something so painful and use it for good and bring other people hope in their painful situations as well."
