Cactus Park will be bustling this weekend as both the U11 and U15 baseball teams host provincials.
The 15UAA Brewers had a successful season, remaining undefeated throughout the league and playoffs, and are entering the tournament with a 25-0 record.
“They are going to be top contenders for the 15U,” said Estevan Minor Baseball (EMB) president Mel Murray. He added that the U11 have been practicing hard. “Dave’s got them working pretty good, so I believe they’re going to be top contenders as well.”
The event costs $10 a day or $20 for the weekend, which grants admission to both events. Refreshments will be available at the canteen, and there will be a shaded tent area, with a raffle on Friday and Saturday. The event is cash only, with no ATM on site.
Games begin Friday at 11 a.m., continuing through Saturday, with semifinals and finals on Sunday afternoon.
The opening ceremonies take place at Cactus Park and begin at 5 p.m. During the ceremonies, EMB will honour the 1997 Bantam Provincial AAA champions, who will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
“It’s going to be some great baseball played in Estevan and we hope to see a lot of fans down there watching our local kids play.”
