The Estevan Public Youth Centre (EPYC) received a $34,000 donation from Kingston Midstream and Tundra Oil & Gas, with each company presenting a $17,000 cheque.

“We believe in supporting local nonprofit organizations, charities, and community initiatives through our community investment efforts, particularly with the generous support from our parent company, James Richardson and Sons Limited,” said Dena Bachorcik, public awareness and community investment coordinator at Kingston Midstream.

Merissa Scarlett, executive director of EPYC, said that a priority for the centre is revitalizing the space to be utilized for a variety of programming.

“So we're going to be upgrading some of our couches. Additionally, I would love to see a small kitchen area with just a sink and some counter space so we can keep hosting our hot meals and better healthy snack-making.”

She added that it will look a lot different at the centre after the changes are complete. She also expressed her gratitude for the donation, noting it is one of, if not the largest, donations the center has received.

“We’re so pleased to support organizations like the Estevan Public Youth Centre that make an important impact in our communities,” Bachorcik said.

As the summer rolls along, EPYC has a number of plans in the works, including a family night in August complete with hot dogs and s’mores, as well as some pop-up events in the parks.
