After three boaters went missing in June, and the third and final body has been located on Lake Winnipeg. 

On July 28, 2024, with the assistance of local searchers and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART), a third body was located on Lake Winnipeg. The body is that of the 29-year-old missing boater.

Previously:

On June 28, 2024, at 7 a.m., Grand Rapids responded to a report of missing boaters on Little Moose Lake near Grand Rapids.

Three adult males from Misipawistik Cree Nation came to Lake Winnipeg to hunt moose, and when they did not return to the meeting place, a search was deployed in the area. 

On June 29, the body of one of the boaters, a 31-year-old male was located by Easterville Search and Rescue.

On July 17, a second body was found by searchers on Lake Winnipeg. The body is believed to be that of the 28-year-old missing boater.

An autopsy will be conducted.

The RCMP would like to thank all the people, communities and organizations that came together to assist during this tragic time.
