The Town of Okotoks is praising its residents for their work in conserving water so far this summer.

In a news release, the Town said that efforts in using water wisely have helped to keep reservoir levels stable which eliminates the need to implement more outdoor water restrictions.

“As temperatures are forecasted to be above 30 degrees over the next seven days, we’re asking residents and businesses to continue their excellent outdoor watering practices and follow the outdoor watering schedule,” says Davey Robertson, water manager for the Town of Okotoks. “If we stick to the schedule and avoid watering on weekends, we should be able to stay at stage one throughout the summer.”

Town Council approved the latest watering schedule during its March 25 meeting. Tyhe upates in the schedule include watering on weekdays only and reducing the watering time by one hour.

“The watering schedule also aligns with our five water conservation stages outlined in the Water Bylaw,” the news releases states. “Becoming increasingly cautious in order to sustain water availability for our community’s essential use.”
