Okotoks and the Moose Jaw Miller Express met for the first time this season with the Dawgs coming out on top 4-3 at Seaman Stadium tonight.

Quinn Tocheniuk started on the mound for the Dawgs pitching in two full innings and producing three K's. All-Star Garrett Maloney came in relief in the third inning and pitched four and two-thirds innings striking out four Miller Express batters. Cade Herrmann, Blake Crippin, Zane Morrison, and Ashton Luera also appeared on the mound.

Luera got the save by pitching at the top of the ninth and striking out two batters to close the game.

Okotoks opened the scoring at the bottom of the first getting two runs in. Brendan Luther would get the game's first run thanks to a Tucker Zdunich sacrifice fly out to centre field. 

Logan Grant earned the second RBI of the inning after getting Jason Arriola across home plate for a run.

Moose Jaw answered at the top of the second, getting a single run to cut the Dawgs' lead to one.

The Dawgs would get their two-run lead back when Connor Crowson hit a single at the bottom of the fourth and got Grant in for a run.

Crowson added another RBI at the bottom of the sixth after hitting a single to centre field and got Jarrett Burney across home plate for a 4-1 lead.

The Miller Express wouldn't roll over and cut the Dawgs' lead back to just one again at the top of the seventh, but Okotoks held on to win the game 4-3.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow at Seaman Stadium for their second of back-to-back games. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
