The Okotoks Dawgs finished their back-to-back games tonight against the Moose Jaw Miller Express with a dominating 16-3 victory.

With the win, the Dawgs swept the 2024 WCBL season series 2-0 with the Miller Express and outscored Moose Jaw 20-6 in the process.

Brock Townsend started on the mound for Okotoks. He would pitch for five full innings and punched out 4 Miller Express batters with K's to earn the win.

Cam Stephens, Ryan McFarland, Seth Thompson, and Preston Tocheniuk came into the game as relievers.

 Moose Jaw opened the scoring at the top of the first with a run, but the Dawgs answered back at the bottom of the inning with four runs.

Alejandro Cazorla returned in today's game playing in his first game of the season. He was welcomed by getting hit by a pitch and getting onto first base. Ricky Sanchez and Tucker Zdunich would be up to bat next and both got on base.

Jarrett Burney then hit a single to centre field with bases loaded and got Cazorla in for a run. Logan Grant was up next and hit a single to centre field, getting Sanchez across home plate.

Connor Crowson picked up an RBI next with a sacrifice fly to centre field getting Zdunich in for a 3-1 lead. Burney scored shortly after to give the Dawgs a three-run lead.

Grant started the scoring in the bottom of the third, stealing second base and then getting in for a run after Crowson hit a double to centre field.

Aidan Rose got Crowson in for a run when he hit a single to right field after Crowson stole third and Lou Anderson stole second. Anderson got the final run of the inning thanks to Spencer Sullivan hitting a sacrifice fly to centre field.

The Dawgs added two more runs at the bottom of the fifth. Connor Crowson picked up his eighth home run of the season with the first at-bat at the bottom of the inning. Aidan Rose would get the second run of the inning giving the Dawgs a 9-1 lead.

Okotoks wouldn't stop there as they added four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Zdunich earned the first run of the inning on a wild pitch. Anderson then hit a three-run home run shortly after getting Burney and Barry Eiseman across home plate.

The Dawgs weren't done yet, Eiseman followed up Anderson's dinger with a three-run home run himself at the bottom of the seventh. Zdunich and Sanchez added runs on the Eiseman dinger making it a 16-1 game.

Moose Jaw tried to come back but it was too little, too late as they only scored two more runs at the top of the eighth.

The WCBL 2024 All-Star game is tomorrow with nine players getting involved with the Home Run Derby and the All-Star game. The Home Run Derby starts at 5:00 pm at Seaman Stadium followed by the All-Star game at 7:05.
