The Okotoks Dawgs got the last laugh against the Giants winning today's second game 7-4 against Fort McMurray.

The Dawgs and Giants would finish off their game which was postponed at the bottom of the eighth on Fathers Day. The Dawgs were down to start the game but pushed back taking it to extra innings but got edged out 9-8.

Okotoks then took the second game of the afternoon which they played a full nine innings.

Trent Warstler took the start on the mound for the second game and pitched a full two innings while earning 4 K's.

Brody Forno, Zane Morrison, Cade Herrmann, Aaron Hammer, Easton Corey, and Ashton Luera all came in as relievers. The relievers put up nine strikeouts combined during their time at the mound.

Okotoks opened the scoring at the bottom of the first. While Alejandro Cazorla was at bat, Brendan Luther scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch.

The Dawgs added two more runs at the bottom of the second to give themselves a 3-0 lead. Connor Crowson hit a double and then advanced to third thanks to Caleb Lumbard. Spencer Sullivan would then get his second home run of the season getting himself and Crowson across home plate.

The Giants answered back with a run at the top of the third but went back down by three runs after the Dawgs got another run at the bottom of the third.

Jarrett Burney got the run at the bottom of the third when he got across home plate on a wild pitch.

Fort McMurray cut the lead back to two runs for the Dawgs after scoring a run at the top of the fourth and then tied the game with two runs at the top of the sixth. Okotoks didn't let it affect them and took the lead back with a run at the bottom of the sixth.

Sullivan continued to be a strong at bat for the Dawgs hitting a double and then scoring the winning run on an error by the right fielder. 

The Dawgs got the final two runs of the game at the bottom of the seventh. Cazorla would hit a triple and then Lumbard would score himself as well as Cazorla in for runs after smacking the ball out of the park for a home run.

Okotoks will have the day off tomorrow but then hit the road for their week-long road trip to Saskatchewan. The Dawgs start the road trip on Tuesday (July 23) against the Weyburn Beavers at 7:05 pm.
