A fundraiser has been started for the owner of an Okotoks home damaged by a house fire last week.
The GoFundMe page was launched by the friends of Tony Griggs, whose home was damaged by a house fire on July 18.
Griggs was in hospital at the time of the fire due to a medical condition, and his roommate was rescued from the home and transported to the hospital by EMS.
According to the fundraiser page, Okotokians may recognize Griggs from his time as a cab driver or through his volunteer work at a local church.
His daughter was quoted in the fundraiser's description:
"My dad would take the shirt off his back for anyone to see them succeed. He is a great conversationalist and has a sensible huge heart. He truly is the most resilient man I know, proving a sharp mind and strong soul can persevere through almost anything. Even with his current and previous medical issues he's overcome, he still aspires to be a positive light to those around him."
The GoFundMe campaign is intended to provide Griggs the meansĀ to replace his belongings that were destroyed in the fireĀ and to find a new home.
