The Regina Police Service’s Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant in Yellow Grass earlier this month, resulting in the seizure of more than 30 firearms and the arrest of one man. The warrant was executed with assistance from the RCMP.  

In a release issued Friday, the RPS stated the warrant was executed around 4:00 p.m. on July 10th at a home in Yellow Grass. During the search, the police found more than 30 firearms and receivers, with some being non-restricted, restricted and prohibited. As well, there were boxes of gun parts uncovered, several boxes of ammunition, 3D-printed firearms, 3D-printed magazines, a muzzle suppressor, computers, other firearms-related items, and a 3D printer.  

Police have charged 42-year-old Owen Altwasser of Yellow Grass with numerous offences. The charges include careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized, possession of a prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and weapons manufacturing.  

Altwasser made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court last Thursday.
