The 13U AAA Weyburn Beavers went into the Baseball Regina RBI League Championship tournament as the underdogs but came out as the champions on the weekend.

The Beavers, who entered the tournament as the 7th seed, would open up the tournament Friday night against the top-seeded Regina White Sox. The Beavers would come up short in that game, falling 6-4 and setting up a must-win against the Estevan Brewers on Saturday morning. Weyburn came out swinging and beat the Brewers 5-1. With seven runs against in their two round-robin games, the Beavers were seeded fourth and got a berth in the semi-finals.

Weyburn would be up against the Moose Jaw Canucks in the semis Sunday morning and were ready to play. They would pick up a 14-1 victory, punching their ticket to the championship game, where they would meet the Regina Wolfpack. In the finals, the Beavers battled hard and came away with an 11-9 victory and the league title.

The Beavers are now off to the 13U AAA Tier 2 provincial championships, which will be played in Lumsden this coming weekend.
