The 18U AA Weyburn Angels closed out their regular season Sunday as they entertained the Lumsden Cubs for a doubleheader at Tom Laing Park. The Beavers, who have been dominant all season, would come out on the losing side of both games, falling 12-4 and 22-8 respectively.  

In the first game, the Cubs would be able to take a lead in the second inning, and they held on for the victory. Isaac Mackay would lead the way for the Beavers with four hits, and Owen Klein drove in three of Weyburn’s four runs in the loss. On the mound, Vlad Szczecinksi, Asher Knox, Connor McIndoe and Marek Keslering all saw action. They would combine for six strikeouts and six walks, while allowing 12 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits.  

In the second game, the two teams would go back and forth and would be tied after seven innings. In the eighth inning, though, the Cubs would open up the floodgates, scoring 14 runs en route to the 22-8 victory.  

Klein, McIndoe, Szczecinski, and Chace Kradovill would all record RBIs in the game, with Kradovill adding a double. Noah Kopec would also shine along the basepaths, stealing four bags in the game. On the mound, Brasen Sim had the start. He went 4 1/3 innings, with five runs being scored, three earned, while striking out five. McIndoe would pitch for 2 2/3 innings, with seven runs crossing the plate, while striking out two. Cole Godlonton and Gage Kaufmann would finish the game off, allowing a total of ten runs combined.  

The Angels finished the regular season in third place with a record of 21-7. They will now get ready for the provincial championships, which will be held this coming weekend.
