The Saskatchewan Summer Games have officially kicked off, with the girls' soccer team getting ready to hit the road for Wednesday.

The SE district girls' team comprises players from Weyburn, Stoughton, White City, and Yellow Grass. Friese added that the team has gelled well together and has gotten to know each other better.

To prepare, they headed to Swift Current last week for a few exhibition games. “We’ve been practicing, but we haven’t been in a full game. So that was a good chance for us to be on the field in a game situation,” she said.
Friese noted that the team is doing well and has improved with strategy and formation throughout the practices.
“We’re seeing our girls gelling together and communicating with each other out on the field,” she said.
“I think any time you have an opportunity to participate in this type of event, you’re always working on your skill. So I think the girls have had more touches on the ball and have increased their skill level as well,” she added.
The SE girls' team is excited to get on the field. “They’re feeling really excited about not just the competition, but also just the experience of being at the Sask Games,” Friese said.
