Another Tim Hortons Camp Day is in the books with thousands of dollars raised in Okotoks, High River, and Claresholm.

On Tuesday, Tim Hortons announced that this year’s Camp Day on July 17th, raised nearly $12.8 million nationally.

The restaurants in High River and Okotoks raised nearly $16,000, roughly $7,800 in each community.

Kevin Generoux is the owner of the High River locations and said the day was exciting from the very beginning.

“We had a lot of volunteers turn out, we had people from the town fire department, the RCMP were there, the sheriffs were there,” he said. “We had the radio station doing the remote...which helped generate a lot of excitement for Camp Day.”

Other highlights from the day included Coffee by a Councillor where a High River Town Councillor rolled up their sleeves to serve coffee. The Fire Chief from Claresholm also took time to work the drive-thru window.

On July 17th, 100 per cent of sales from coffee, iced coffee, as well as Camp Day merchandise like bracelets was donated to the Tim Horton’s Children’s Foundation.

“We had guests who bought a coffee and were wondering what's going on (and) we're like, ‘you just donated to the Children's Foundation,” added Generoux.

Tim Hortons Camp Day has raised more than $262 million in its history and has sent more than 320,000 underserved youth to a multi-year camp-based program at Tims Camps.

"We are overwhelmed with the results," said Caroline Barham, President of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. "We could not be more grateful for the support of Tim Hortons, restaurant owners, and guests, and their dedication to our mission of empowering youth to achieve their full potential."

For Generoux, he said the day would not have been a success without the dedication from his wife Kim who wanted to make sure Camp Day was more than a fundraiser, but an experience.

“She's one of the driving forces for Camp Day, working with our team and doing all the prep work that goes into it and the stores are even decorated like a week and a bit before. It's a huge thank you to all the team and to the guests...It was very successful again.”
