Over 200 lemonade stands shared thousands of cups of the favorite sweet and sour beverage this past weekend to raise money and awareness for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation through their annual Lemonade Stands for Hope campaign.

But if you weren't able to participate in this summer fundraiser it's not too late!

Folks can register their own lemonade stand for CancerCare at any time to continue the fundraiser well into the Fall season.

“What's important to know is that all funds raised here in Manitoba stays in Manitoba,” says CancerCare Foundation's Manager of Community Events and Development, Sherelle Kwan.

Kwan says that all Manitobans know someone who has been touched by cancer, whether that be they themselves have been diagnosed or a loved one or neighborhood.  She adds the Lemonade Stands for Hope gives everyone an opportunity to support CancerCare support and critical research in ways to cure cancer.

"I think that's the story of hope that we're hearing from so many families who are saying 'this is a way that we are doing something'," she says.  "I think cancer can leave a lot of people feeling a little bit helpless, and what we're hearing and what we know is that these stands are providing hope. They are bringing families together and it's giving someone a real action that they can take that they can do to help others. And it does truly make a difference."
