A couple of Foothills distilleries were on display in a recent social media from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
In his hands were a bottle of Sweet Sippin' Original Maple Whisky from Highwood Distillers in High River and a bottle of Stampede Canadian Rye Whisky from Eau Claire Distillers in Diamond Valley.
They were sent to him by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, making good on a bet from early June regarding the outcome of the Stanley Cup finals.
If Edmonton were to win, DeSantis would send Smith some Florida Rum, and if Florida won, Smith would ship the governor some Alberta whisky.
DeSantis' July 22 video confirmed he'd received his winnings and took the opportunity to gloat about Florida's three Stanley Cup wins in the last five years.
Thank you, @ABDanielleSmith, for sending us Canadian whiskey in honor of our Stanley Cup Champions, the Florida Panthers.
