Estevan has had a busy summer with multiple events being hosted in the community, bringing the southeast to the energy city.

This includes many sporting events, such as baseball and softball provincials, as well as the recent street dance held over the weekend.

Estevan Mayor Roy Ludwig says that the city's doing well to attract so many events.

"We're very happy that our community has been able to hold all of these events. A lot of these live bands have been fantastic. The Souris Valley Theatre has got some absolutely amazing entertainment and that continues. So yeah, it's fabulous with all of the events that our community has been able to hold all summer."

The number of events has been ticking up in Estevan says Ludwig, with plenty of variety for people to enjoy.

"It definitely seems really busy this year, which is great with the provincials, with the ball, with entertainment, it seems every weekend along with the racing, the stock car racing. If anyone were to think there's nothing going on, my goodness, they had better open their eyes because it's busy every weekend and lots to do and it's just great entertainment."

Local businesses are also reaping the benefits of a busy summer.

"The businesses I've talked to are very happy with the extra entertainment that's being offered," says Ludwig. "Of course, that's good for the restaurants, good for the hotels, it brings more people into our community. So it's a win-win, absolutely."

Estevan is quickly proving itself as a city where the whole of the southeast can gather, says Ludwig.

"In the area we've kind of been the focus for a lot of these events. So it's worked out very well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers because a lot of these events we simply couldn't have done it without our great volunteer base."
