Vulcan County is now under a Fire Ban thanks to the extreme heat and dry conditions the area has experienced.

The fire ban took effect on July 23rd, and now burning of any kind is now prohibited.

Recreational fires, including backyard fire pits, campfires, backcountry/random camping areas, outdoor fireplaces, burn barrels, incinerators, charcoal briquette barbecues, burning of yard debris, fireworks, and exploding targets are included in the fire ban.

Propane and natural gas appliances, such as stoves, heaters, portable firepits, and barbecues for the purpose of heating and cooking are allowed, as long as they are either CSA-approved or UL/ULC certified.

Both burning and lighting a fire during a fire ban is illegal, and there could be fines implemented or the cost of the fire department responding could be passed on to the individual starting the fire.

If there are any fires or smoke seen in Vulcan County, it is advised to call 911.

Currently, the Town of Vulcan is not under a fire ban.
