The Okotoks Dawgs had more bite than the Beavers in Weyburn on Wednesday night, winning 9-3 and sweeping the two-game season series.

Trent Wastler started on the mound and punched out two Beaver batters with strikeouts. Cam Stephens, Chase Tucker, Zane Morrison, and Greg Ross came in as relievers.

The 2024 WCBL All-Star Chase Tucker would get credit for the win while only allowing one hit while on the mound.

Once again, the Dawgs opened the scoring at the top of the first. Logan Grant picked up the first RBI of the game after hitting a single to right field and got Tucker Zdunich in for a run.

The Beavers took the lead at the bottom of the first, getting two runs past the Dawgs and then scoring again at the bottom of the third, going up 3-1.

Those were all the runs Okotoks would allow, but the same couldn't be said for the Beavers, as the Dawgs sniffed them out and scored eight runs.

The Dawgs started their onslaught of runs at the top of the fifth. Brendan Luther would hit a double which he has done all season long scoring Lou Anderson in for a run and cutting the Beavers lead to just one.

At the top of the sixth Okotoks would tie the game off of a Nash Crowell single to right field which would get Jarrett Burney in for a run.

Okotoks then took the lead in the seventh getting another run across home pate with Luther getting across all four bases due to two separate errors in the same play after Luther hit the ball.

The Dawgs continued their offensive surge, getting three runs at the top of the eighth inning. Grant started things off by getting a solo home run with the first at-bat of the inning. Luther then added another RBI on the night after hitting a sacrifice fly and getting Alejandro Cazorla across home plate. Anderson got the final run of the inning on an error by the Beavers' catcher.

The Dawgs were still not finished as they added two more runs in the ninth inning just to put the cherry on top. Crowell earned the first run on a Cazorla single to left field. Cazorla would then get the final run of the evening thanks to Anderson hitting a triple to centre field.

Okotoks will continue their Saskatchewan road trip tomorrow in Regina when they meet the Red Sox for the first time this season. The first pitch is expected for 7:05 pm.
