The Weyburn Beavers held the lead for most of the game last night against the Okotoks Dawgs, but errors would give the Dawgs an opening in the later innings. Over the final three innings, the visitors would score six runs to jump out to a 9-3 win over the Beavers.

On the mound, Ian Heck would get the start for the Beavers, going 5 1/3 innings. He struck out four and allowed three earned runs on eight hits. Devin Costa then pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, striking out two but giving up two earned runs, and four runs in total, on three hits. Jordan Bauer would pitch for an inning, allowing two runs on two hits, before Mathieu Rocheleau came on to record the final out in the ninth inning.

At the plate, the Beavers combined for 10 hits and got 15 baserunners in the game thanks to drawing five walks. Ryan Dauphinee, Ryan Muizelaar, and Halen Otte all recorded doubles, while Niko Kekatos and Otte each had an RBI.

With a hit in the game, Kekatos extended his streak of safely reaching base, including hits, walks, and being hit by a pitch, to 29 games. The streak dates back to June 2nd, and since the start of the season, there have only been two games in which Kekatos has not reached base. Both of those games were played in May, and he was a pinch hitter in one of those games.

The Beavers will now get ready to take on the Medicine Hat Mavericks, who are in town for a pair of games, starting tonight. The first pitch is just after 7:00 p.m. at Tom Laing Park.
