The first half of the Saskatchewan Summer Games wrapped up in Lloydminster yesterday, and Team Southeast came home with a few medals.  

The first medal of the day was on the soccer pitch. The male soccer team would beat Regina 3-2 in the bronze medal game. Then, on the archery range, a pair of bronze medals. The first was in the male recurve, where Hunter Kirby would finish in third place. Then, in female recurse, Kenzie Bayliss would finish on the podium with a bronze.  

In Special Olympics bocce ball, Donna Southward would finish in third place to come home with a medal.  Over on the softball diamond, though, heartbreak for Team Southeast. They would fall 13-10 to Lakeland in the bronze medal game, finishing the tournament just off the podium. On the tennis court, Brooks Ryden also missed out on a medal, falling 2-0 (3-6, 2-6) in the bronze medal match.  

The swimming portion of the games also wrapped up on Wednesday. In the female 50m backstroke, Jennika Linthicum finished just off the podium in 4th place. Jacob Gill would be 8th in the finals of the male 50m backstroke. Gill also picked up a 5th-place finish in the 50m breaststroke. Team Southeast would finish 6th in the female 4x100m freestyle relay, and fifth in the male 4x100m relay.  

The Saskatchewan Summer Games continue today, with athletics, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, female soccer and the triathlon getting underway.
