In a bid to bolster support for its furry friends, the Weyburn Humane Society is gearing up for its annual garage sale, which will kick off this August 8th and 9th at a new location on 56 10th Street.

Clarissa Welsh, a board member, says this year's event promises a fresh twist with a change in venue.

"This year, we're holding it a little bit differently. Usually it's at the curling rink, but this year we are having it at a volunteer's house at 56 10th Street," Welsh explained, adding, "And there's going to be lots of fun and cool stuff."

The garage sale isn't just about clearing out closets; it is vital in supporting the Humane Society's daily operations.

"The funds are mostly going to go towards our general operations," Welsh emphasized. "We operate largely on donations from the community. We have a lot of costs, especially with food, vet, and our paid staff. It always goes up and up and up and we just need those things to keep us running."

Reflecting on the generosity of the community, Welsh expressed gratitude.

"It's fantastic just how the community can come out and support us through their donations, through donating to things like this, donating their time, their efforts participating in our fundraisers and everything else. It's just fantabulous to be part of such an amazing community."

With an eclectic mix of items up for grabs, from furniture to knickknacks and everything in between, Welsh encouraged locals to participate.

Welsh offered guidance on getting involved for those looking to contribute.

"If you have any donations, you can message our Facebook page, and we can direct you where to send them, or you can come visit us at our shelter."
