The following is the RCMP report to July 25, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 35 traffic violations

- 3 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 19 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 13 crimes against property 

- 4 other criminal code

- 13 crimes against person

- 2 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

July 9, 2024

Police received a report of a fraud in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. The complainant's apple ID was being used to make purchases through their PayPal account. Police followed up and provided information on steps moving forward. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a 911 call for an erratic driver in Killarney. No plate or vehicle information was provided. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to another 911 call for an erratic driver in Killarney. A women sped into a parking lot and was then dancing around the parking lot then left. Again, no plate was provided and there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of an assault with weapon in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of harassing communications in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle at Lake Metigoshe. Police followed up with the vehicle rental company. The vehicle was not stolen, and the company made arrangements for a tow.

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

July 10, 2024

Police received a report of harassment in Boissevain. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. Before police could respond, they received an update that the person involved had returned home safe.

Police received a report of an assault in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.

 

July 11, 2024

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant and it was determined no threats were uttered and there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a sex assault in the Turtle Mountain Area. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Killarney. All parties were located safe.

Police received a report for mischief in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received another report of mischief in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Police followed up with the complainant and provided direction for options moving forward to assist with the situation. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report for harassing communications in Deloraine. After following up with the complainant it was determined the situation happened outside of the Turtle Mountain area. The complainant was directed to make a report in the area of occurrence.

 

July 13, 2024

Police completed a traffic stop in Killarney. A roadside screening device was given to the driver which resulted in two fail readings. An immediate roadside suspension was given to the driver prohibiting driving for 90 days and the vehicle was towed.

Police responded to a 911 call under the fire prevention act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. Fire and Hydro were on scene and police were no longer required. The matter was concluded.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Killarney. No items were taken however there was some damage. Police followed up with complainant however there as insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Grassland. The matter was unfounded.

Police responded to a 911 call for a motor vehicle collision with a possible impaired driver. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The matter is under investigation.

 

July 15, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in Rock Lake. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Boissevain. A male was located at the residence. He was arrested and charged with assault and lodged. The male was released on an undertaking once sober to appear in court at a later date.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault with weapon in Killarney. A male was arrested, charged, and lodged in Killarney. The male was released on an undertaking once sober to appear in court at a later date. Police seized the weapon involved. 

Police received a report of a theft of truck in Ninette. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. After further investigation, the complainant declined to proceed with charges.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Boissevain. All parties were located safe.

 

July 16, 2024

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in the RM of Goodlands. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Ninette. Upon arrival police spoke with all parties involved and the matter was unfounded.

 

July 17, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for a traffic collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes. A male was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police received a report of possession of child pornography in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. The matter is under investigation.

 

July 18, 2024

Police received a report of a traffic collision in Boissevain. There were no injuries, and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of possession of child pornography in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a neighbour dispute in Baldur. The complainant reported for information purposes, so the file was concluded.

 

July 19, 2024

Police received a report of a break and enter to a business in Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

 

July 20, 2024

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Ninette. Police were not able to locate the person or vehicle involved. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received another request for a wellbeing check in Killarney. All parties were located safe.

 

July 21, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. A male was arrested and lodged and released once sober.

Police received a report of an assault in Ninette. Police followed up with the complainant however they were not cooperative. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Boissevain. The matter was concluded.

 

July 22, 2024

Police received a report of a possible aircraft crash however no crash was actually seen, a motor was heard turning off then back on. Police followed up with the complainant and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of mischief in Waskada. The complainant was reporting for information purposes and did not wish to provide a statement. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report for a wellbeing check in Cartwright. Police confirmed all parties were safe.

 

July 23, 2024

Police received a report of an abandoned electric scooter full of items in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. The matter is under investigation. 

Police received a report of fraud in the RM of Prairie Lakes. A male was attempting to sell items online. The buyer mailed a cheque, then stated the cheque was for too much and requested some of the money back. No money was lost. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Killarney. Police attended the location and followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

July 24, 2024

Police received a report of fraud in Ninette. A male was attempting to sell items online. The buyer mailed a cheque, then stated the cheque was for too much and requested some of the money back. No money was lost. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Killarney. Patrols were made however police were not able to locate anyone suspicious.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of being unlawfully at large in Boissevain. Police attended a residence however no one was home. There as insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Killarney. All parties were located safe.

Killarney Restorative Justice also reports the following between January 1, 2024 & July 15, 2024:

 

2 cases of assault were closed following required programming.

1 case of theft was closed following financial restitution.

1 case of assault with weapon and mischief was closed following required programming.

1 case of assault with weapon and uttering threats was returning to the courts due to non-compliance.

1 case of assaulting a police officer is still ongoing with measures and programs provided.

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
