More than 200 guests enjoyed a mouth-watering BBQ, music, and a chance to shop at this year’s Sneak-a-Peek at the Chucks.

The special event was put on by Sun Country 99.7 and held at Eamon's Garage and the Heart of the West Museum. It was designed as a fun way to kick off the Battle of the Foothills which began Thursday evening.

The celebration included a beef-on-a-bun lunch by JRRR BBQ.

Owner Ryan Ikebuchi said they served over 200 sandwiches, with some returning for a second helping because they couldn’t resist the unique, smoky taste.

“It's a blend of meat that we put together with our sweet Memphis Red BBQ sauce on there. We smoke for about 18 hours to get it to be that tender,” he said.

Local businesses like Sugar Catering, Hard Core BBQ, and Bone to Broth were thrilled to be out at the event, even though the winds decided to make quite the entrance.

Okotoks country signer Brettyn Rose was on hand to serenade the crowd with her covers of classic and current hits.

The Battle of the Foothills runs from July 25-28 at the High River Rodeo Grounds.
