The annual Midale Threshing Bee is coming up once again. The event will be held on August 3rd and 4th with activities for all ages.

President of the Souris Valley Antique Association, Glenn McGregor says the event is meant to display the history of the local area.

“We're going to kick it off on Saturday morning with the museum side of things. And we're going to start it off with a pancake breakfast running from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. And that'll be on our museum site on Main Street of Midale, where we also have our Moser collection, which also includes collections of local people's belongings as well. And from there, we're going to move up to the Heritage Village and behind the school.”

The Heritage Village will open at 11 a.m. where you can find a live blacksmith demonstration, concession booth, flea market and other demonstrations. They’re also planning on having fried bread and blueberry pie being served.

“You can find an old schoolhouse, an old church, an original homestead, right where the museum sits, as well as another house that we have brought in. A local hall, an old gas station, and a lot of history around Dr. Mainprize himself.”

The event is admission free with no cost to experience the village and watch the tractor parade which begins around 2 p.m. followed by a live threshing.
