Another big game from Ella Schenher as Team Saskatchewan picked up a win against Ontario Black at the U18 Women’s National Football Championships yesterday in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Schenher’s efforts, which all came in the first half of the game, helped lift Saskatchewan to a 48-12 victory.

The Weyburn native would carry the ball nine times, including touchdown runs of 83 and 81 yards, while also throwing for one touchdown. Schenher would finish the game with 267 yards along the ground, and 24 through the air while going 2-for-4 from the pocket. She also had one punt and helped out on one tackle on the defensive side of the ball.

Schenher's efforts, which were limited to just the first quarter and a part of the second, would result in her being named the offensive MVP for Team Saskatchewan. Her 435 yards along the ground are also the most of any player in the tournament, averaging 217.5 per game.

With the win, Saskatchewan now moves on to the 5th-place playoff game. It will be played on Sunday against the National Indigenous team.
