With the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season set to begin in about a month’s time and players set to report to training camp, the Humboldt Broncos are searching for billets for the 2024-25 season.
James Dyok, the Broncos Billet Coordinator, says the team are trying to find billets who would host the players for the duration of the SJHL season, beginning with training camp in late August until the conclusion of the season in the springtime.
He noted that becoming a billet family can become a very rewarding experience developing a special relationship.
“You get to know their families, you may get a little bit more involved and follow along with them if there’s playoffs, going down to watch them play.”
Dyok noted the impact of becoming a billet is something that you might not realize immediately.
“You’re helping the kids grow up, you probably don’t at the time realize how you’re affecting the families until you talk to a parent later on.”

With training camp coming up in a few weeks, Dyok wants the Broncos billeting plans to be settled over the next couple of weeks.
