After a couple of weeks of extremely hot temperatures, some cool air came in over the weekend and brought in some seasonal temperatures for the southeast, but heat is going to return soon.
While it's unlikely to reach the same extreme temperatures as last week, the weather will be a bit above normal for this time of year.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Andy Yun goes over the conditions that'll settle in the southeast this week.
"We're still looking at fairly dry conditions through Monday. We're looking at sunny skies, 28°, which is certainly a bit cooler than what they've been. On Tuesday, it looks like a bit of recovery into the warmer air. We've got 33° for Tuesday, back down to 27° for Wednesday, and up to 32° again for Thursday. So a bit of a yoyo pattern going on with the temperatures, but certainly looks sunny and dry through that period."
Unlike the few storms that have rolled through the southeast over the summer this week is looking relatively clear.
"Might be a minor chance it's hard to say, winds discounted. Right now it looks like perhaps (Monday) is the best chance of some showers going through and again sometimes with these temperatures depending on the weather pattern, you know it could be showers, more likely they'll probably be thunderstorms so it could be unsettled. Right now we're looking at again fairly sunny through the middle part of next week."
While the week will see the months shift from July to August, Yun says we're still a ways away from any fall cooler temperatures.
"It's still summer in a lot of parts of Canada. So yeah, I'd say even though there might be some temporary downturns in temperature, probably still looking at the fairly seasonal to above seasonal conditions through a lot of regions at least through next month."
