The Fallentimber Wildfire did not grow in size yesterday and displayed low fire behavior this morning, giving off smoke from the northeast corner.

Wildland firefighters remain on scene alongside helicopters to continue working areas along the containment lines and bucketing on hot spots of the wildfire, about 25 km west of Water Valley.

In its latest report, Calgary Forest Area officials say the majority of observed hotspots are burning within the footprint of the fire, posing limited risk to spread.

Approximately 60 per cent of the perimeter has dozer guard established. About 50 per cent of the perimeter has hose-lay established.

On scene today are 22 firefighters, a heavy equipment crew (three bulldozers, one excavator, one skidder with tank), and three water tenders with three helicopters providing bucket support.

The dozers/excavators will continue to build guard, and tenders/skidders will support firefighters using pump and hose.

Airtankers are available if required.

The lightning-caused wildfire continues to be classified as out of control and remains estimated at 82.9 hectares.

The MD of Bighorn continues to have an evacuation order in place for the vicinity of the wildfire.

The area closure remains in effect in the immediate area surrounding the fire and an evacuation alert is in effect for residents in the MD of Bighorn west of Water Valley (Doc Mills Road (RR62A), Whispering Pines Road (TWP 294A), and Burnt Timber Road

Road closures are in effect on Highway 579 (Harold Creek Road), Highway 40, Burnt Timber Road, and Stud Creek Road. Refer to Alberta 511 for updated road closure information.

Random camping and public recreation areas in the Ghost Public Land Use Zone are impacted.

A fire ban remains in effect for Alberta's entire Forest Protection Area, including the Calgary Forest Area.
