A preliminary hearing date has been set for Taylor Japp on June 2, 2025, at Carlyle Provincial Court.
The 24-year-old Oxbow man was charged with the second-degree murder of Brianna Hayes, also from Oxbow.
A preliminary hearing is used to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
Tyler Shaw, from Gainsborough, who was charged with accessory after the fact to murder in the slaying of Hayes, is set to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on August 12.
Carlyle RCMP responded to initial reports of a potential homicide on April 24. The case was handed over to the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit.
On April 25, the remains of Hayes were located in a rural area of Moose Mountain, and her death was ruled a homicide. Shaw was charged on this day. On April 26, Japp was charged with second-degree murder.
