Lacombe’s Nowco Home Hardware Chairs for Charity program raised $8,828 for the Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Tools for School program.

This year marks the largest amount raised since the program launched in 2018.

“In total, we're just shy of $40,000 since we started," Organizer and local business owner Deanna Nowochin said.

Through the program, businesses purchase a chair, paint it however they like, and sell raffle tickets to raise funds for local charities.

Nowochin explained that she was inspired to start the program because she wanted to do something fun that involved the entire downtown community.

“I love this community, I love being a part of this community, and I love being able to spend my time doing something that benefits people in Lacombe,” she said. “As a business owner one of those perks is being able to take some time away from your business and give back. This was a creative way of doing it, and I can't imagine a year where I don't do it.”

This year, Lacombe Sobeys sold $1,830 worth of raffle tickets in their location.

“They were absolute rock stars this year. We're really pleased with their efforts, and we are going to treat them to something for it because they did a phenomenal job,” Nowochin said. “I hope they're back on board again next year.”
