Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan recently gave out $1.16 million to community groups across the province. According to their press release, the grants are how the government ensures funds from gaming are returned to Saskatchewan communities. 

Seven hundred and fifty groups and organizations were recipients of these grants. Organizations that were eligible were those in good standing who conduct licensed charitable gaming activities. The grants equal twenty-five per cent of the net revenue raised by each charitable event, up to one hundred thousand dollars annually. 

In Weyburn, a total of $24,824.80 was given to ten groups. Big Brothers Big Sisters received $1054.68; Hockey Weyburn Inc. received $385.50; the Royal Canadian Legion Weyburn Branch 47 Inc. received $1045.19; the U13AA SE Young Fellow Gold Wings received $828.13; the U15A Weyburn Dodge Wings received $412.38; the U18AA JHC Wings received $985.39; the Weyburn and District Junior Hockey Association received $17,987; the Weyburn Wildlife Federation received $707.50; and the Weyburn Wrestling Club Inc. received $243.75. 

Many grants were also received in the Weyburn area. These include:

The total amount of funds given to Weyburn, Estevan and the surrounding area totals nearly $50,000.
