Derian Penziwol, branch manager at Sunrise Credit Union in Boissevain, loves his job. He is committed to the community and has a passion for the Credit Union system. These attributes have contributed to his quick growth within Sunrise and continue to positively impact his branch.

Derian joined the team at Sunrise Credit Union just four years ago as a loans officer in Ste. Rose. He worked his way up to branch manager before transferring to the Boissevain branch. Penziwol is quick to share what he loves about his workplace and its role within the community.

"We're committed to helping people and enriching our communities in any way possible," Penziwol states. "This is not limited to the services that we offer just at our branch, but our commitment to community development. We stay true to our mission- everything that we do is to benefit our members and our communities. We're always looking for ways to improve our members' experience in the branch and support our communities. Our relationships are not only limited to our business dealings- we are committed to being part of something more."

Penziwol notes that community involvement is incredibly important at Sunrise Credit Union, and they're proud to put their money where their mouth is.

"What I really love about working here is that Sunrise does a great job at encouraging the branches to be active in the community," Penziwol shares. "Whether it is supporting organizations with sponsorships or donations, or allowing us to volunteer at community functions during working hours. This year alone, our branch in Boissevain has done everything from supporting our local school for the science fair… to supporting the nearby nursery school in Minto with the sponsorship request to build a playground. We have also stayed true to our roots with supporting the local ag society, 4H clubs, local ball teams, and working canteen shifts in support of community events."

Penziwol has been in management at the Boissevain branch for the last 18 months, and his enthusiasm for his job remains constant.

"My favourite part of my job is that I get to go into the branch every single day and make a difference for our members through the community connections we've built. Sunrise is staffed by a group of people who really care about membership, and we're always looking for ways to put members in the best possible position financially, to help them succeed and advance."
