The Weyburn Humane Society is hoping to see ticket sales pick up very soon for their vehicle raffle fundraiser for their new animal shelter. The draw will be made on August 24th for the 2024 GMC Terrain.
"I'm hoping people are last minute, but I think a hundred dollars is just too much for people right now," said Shelter Manager and Board Member Colleen Morrice.
While the tickets are $100, the odds of winning are only one in a thousand. If someone decides to purchase a ticket even though they don't need the vehicle, there is another option for helping out the WHS.
"If you give it back to Barber Motors, they would give you the cost that we paid for it," she noted, adding that if she wins she'll give the prize money back to the organization.
The host app for the draw costs the shelter $8,000, with a $50,000 investment in the vehicle.
"So that's 58,000 and then we've sold 45,000. So we have 13,000 or 130 tickets just to break even," Morrice stated.
