The grand opening of the pickleball courts in Weyburn was held last night, at the new facilities located behind the Credit Union Spark Centre. Built this summer, the new courts were made possible thanks to a partnership between the City of Weyburn, and the newly formed Pickleball Weyburn.

“It’s fabulous to see the community work together, between Pickleball Weyburn and our city, to develop such a beautiful court,” said Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy. “A lot of volunteer work went into this, to make it and develop it, and you can see by the attendance tonight that it’s growing exponentially.”

Around 150 people came out for the grand opening, taking in a barbecue and then trying out the sport, which is the fastest-growing sport right now in North America.

The pickleball courts are open to the public seven days a week, with time every morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, set aside for Pickleball Weyburn. Those who want to join the club can do so through the Pickleball Canada website.
