Estevan has set a new weather record with July seeing an incredibly small amount of rain through the month.
July tends to be a drier month than those surrounding it, even as farmers look to get moisture for their crops during the growing season.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimdell says the new record is notable for the region with only 2 millimeters reported over the month.
"I just have the statistics and it's basically the driest month of July on record for Estevan and that basically goes back 112 years of record. So basically it's the driest in 112 years."
That dry weather stretched into much of southern Saskatchewan, which experienced a similar lack of rainfall as Estevan.
"The big thing, of course, is how dry it was and that's really true for many parts of southern Saskatchewan. I'm looking at the graphical picture of precipitation across Southern Saskatchewan, many areas had reported very little precipitation during the month of July."
The temperature was quite average, coming in with a mean temperature of 20.9, a bit ahead of the normal of 19.4.
Kimdell says that's a long way from setting a new record.
"The temperature was about a degree and a half above average, and that's not going to break any records. They're the 37th warmest, out of 111 years or so. So it's not really going to be significant."
