VIP Lube opened in Weyburn two years ago. The only quick-lube shop in Weyburn, VIP Lube has quickly grown in popularity by providing customer-first service.

Like other quick-lube shops, VIP Lube provides all fluid services for your vehicle – coolants, transmission fluids, differentials, transfer cases, power steering fluid, washer fluid… if your vehicle needs it, they’ll do it.

One of the lesser-known problems Manager Craig Davies and his team see is dirty cabin air filters. If you notice a lack of vent flow in the vehicle, or dirt and dust building up, it’s likely to be caused by a dirty filter.

“A lot of people have heard about them, but they’ve never seen a cabin filter or where it’s located, or know that it needs to be replaced,” says Craig. “And then they’re surprised when we go in through the glove box and pull out a really dirty filter.”

He explains further that, if you have allergies, it’s especially important to keep up with cabin filter replacements. “They block out all the pollen and dirt and dust from getting into the cab, so it’s very important to keep on top of so you can keep your vehicle clean,” he says.

Aside from their expert knowledge, what really sets VIP Lube apart is that they’ll always prioritize your safety and knowledge.

“Our main thing is safety,” Craig says. “If we notice a safety problem with the vehicle, we’ll let the customer know. They need to be educated on their vehicles and what needs to be done.”

But at the end of the day, the choice is always left to the customer.

Craig says, “It’s not our vehicle. It’s the customer’s vehicle. We don’t want to pressure our customers into doing something they may not feel comfortable doing.”

VIP Lube’s safety priority extends beyond fluid changes, though. Regardless of which services you may or may not need, they’re always happy to offer reassurance.

“You don’t even have to be coming in for an oil change,” he says. “If you feel something isn’t quite right, or you’re going on a road trip and just need things checked out, bring it on by. We don’t charge for it – we’ll check your tires, make sure your coolant and oil are good to go. I also have computers here if you have a check engine light on, if you just want to see how serious your problem is.”

While they can’t repair vehicles, they’re happy to recommend a shop to go to for repairs if you need them.

“We just want to make sure that everyone vehicle is safe for the road, and that everyone leaves with a smile on their face,” Craig adds.

Craig began his journey in the quick-lube business in Medicine Hat in his 20s. He began at a quick-lube shop there, and after four years, worked his way up to Supervisor. A few years later, he returned to Weyburn to bring his expertise back to his hometown.

“Weyburn is home,” he says. “I always knew I was going to come back at some point in time.”

After working at a couple other quick-lube shops, Craig found his place at VIP Lube. “And we’re two years in, and we’re rocking it,” he says.

“Everybody here, except for my nephew, I hired the moment we came back in as VIP Lube,” he continues. “Everyone has experience in changing oil on vehicles. One kid came from Barber Motors with a huge passion for the job. We’ve got a husband-wife duo as well who love every aspect of it – the work, the camaraderie of the team, and especially being able to meet and help customers every day.”
