The Okotoks Dawgs put away the Fort McMurray Giants in their final meeting of the season taking it 6-0 at Seaman Stadium on Thursday.

The Dawgs pitching was on point tonight in not allowing a run, only six hits against, and put up nine strikeouts for the shutout. 

Brock Townsend started on the mound and pitched for five full innings with four strikeouts, claiming the victory for Okotoks. Cade Herrmann, Gavin Wuschke, Easton Corey, and Ashton Luera came in as relievers. Herrmann and Corey would both punch out two batters with strikeouts during their time at the mound.

Okotoks would open the scoring at the bottom of the first inning. Logan Grant would pick up the RBI on a single and got Jarrett Burney in for the first run of the game.

The Dawgs added another run at the bottom of the second thanks to Spencer Sullivan hitting a double and then scoring off of a Ricky Sanchez single.

Grant picked up a run at the bottom for the third to give the Dawgs a 3-0 lead after Connor Crowson hit a single.

Burney hit a double at the bottom of the fourth to get Dawson Santana in for a run and then scored a run himself thanks to Sanchez hitting a sacrifice fly.

Okotoks added their final run of the game at the bottom of the sixth after Aidan Rose scored on a wild pitch.

The Dawgs now head to Brooks to face the Bombers for the first game of their back-to-back two-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
