The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were dominant on offense, defense and special teams en route to a 25-0 victory over the B.C. Lions Thursday night. Zach Collaros threw for 295 yards and completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Lucky Whitehead late in the first half. Ontaria Wilson caught seven passes for 112 yards and Brady Oliveira ran the ball 17 times for 100 yards. The Winnipeg defence sacked Lions quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. four times, had one interception and limited the visitors to just four first downs and 102 yards of net offence. Sergio Castillo kicked six field goals including his second 60-yarder of the season. The Blue Bombers reached the midway point of the 2024 CFL season with a 3-6 record and have the bye in week 10. Winnipeg's next game is Sunday, August 18th against the Lions in Vancouver. 


Central Energy has a 2-1 record heading into day three of the Canadian U17 Softball Championship in Calgary. Energy lost 16-9 to Fraser Valley Fusion on Thursday. Central Energy will wrap up the round robin with games today against Quebec and Ontario's South West Revolution. 


It's day one of the Western Canadian U15 Softball Championship in Battlefords, Saskatchewan. Central Energy will play its round robin opener today against the Lacombe Selects.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes dropped an 8-2 decision to the Kansas City Monarchs at Blue Cross Park. The defending American Association champions pulled away thanks to a four-run ninth inning. Roby Enríquez had three hits and drove in both Winnipeg runs. The Fish open a three-game weekend series against the West Division leading Sioux Falls Canaries tonight at Blue Cross Park. 


Manitoba champion Addison Kartusch of Winnipeg is in a tie for 53rd place heading into the final round of the 110th Canadian Women’s Amateur Golf Championship at the Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria. Kartusch fired a two-over par 74 Thursday and has a 54-hole total of 11-over par 227. Momo Sugiyama of Gold Coast, Australia is minus-10 and has a three-shot lead over Ashley Kozlowski of Littleton, Colorado and Caitlin Peirce of Adelaide, Australia.


Summer McIntosh won her third medal of the Paris Olympics on Thursday. The 17-year-old captured gold in the women's 200-metre butterfly. McIntosh also won gold in the 400 individual medley and silver in the 400 freestyle earlier this week. Canadian athletes have won eight medals including three gold, two silver and three bronze. Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Norway's Casper Ruud and will meet Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in the men's tennis singles semifinals. Canada’s women’s basketball team is on the brink of elimination after falling 70-65 to Australia. Canada is 0-2 and will play their final group stage game against Nigeria on Sunday. Canada’s men’s basketball team will take on Spain. Canada has defeated Greece and Australia in group play and is assured of a spot in the quarterfinals. Cory Conners opened the men's golf competition with a three-under par 68 while Nick Taylor was one-under par 70.
