Some big changes are going to be coming to Prairie Sky Co-op's Food Store in Weyburn this summer. Beginning this month, major renovations will begin, with CCR Construction being brought on as the general contractor.

“Some of the bigger items are, we’ll be replacing all of our refrigeration equipment, we’ll be moving the pharmacy to a bigger area and making it easier for customers to use, we’ll be replacing a lot of our production equipment and in our fresh production areas, putting in new flooring, and a lot more,” said General Manager Kevin Arthur about the scope of the renovations.

While CCR Construction is a Regina-based company, they will be using local subcontractors as well, such as Don’s Plumbing and Heating, and CD Electric.

The location will remain open during the renovations, which are expected to be completed next summer. Arthur acknowledged this would mean changes for the time being.

“With a project this large, there will be some disruption, but we’re going to do everything we can to limit that to make the experience as good as possible for our customers,” Arthur said.

Prairie Sky Co-op stated in a release to accompany the announcement the work will result in a state-of-the-art facility that will serve customers well into the future.
