RCMP confirm weekend fatal crash on Highway 3

A 49-year-old man from Schoenwiese has died following a two-vehicle collision Saturday on Highway 3 in the R.M. of Roland.
    
According to RCMP, an SUV travelling north on Highway 3 attempted to pass a vehicle by pulling into the oncoming lane, however a motorcycle was heading southbound in that lane at the time. Both drivers swerved to the same shoulder to avoid the collision but collided head-on.
    
A passer-by stopped to assist the injured driver of the motorcycle, who was pronounced deceased on scene.
    
The driver and lone occupant of the SUV, a 20-year-old female, suffered no physical injuries.
    
Pembina Valley RCMP, along with a RCMP forensic collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
