Vulcan County has moved from a Fire Ban down to a Fire Restriction.

The County had moved to a Fire Ban back on July 23rd, but on August 6th, the County changed the Ban to a Restriction.

The Restriction is still in place due to the windy, dry, and warm conditions the region has been experiencing.

Under this restriction, campfires and charcoal briquettes are prohibited in backcountry and random camping areas, but campfires that are in fire rings in campgrounds are allowed.

Gas and propane stoves and barbeques, as well as portable fire pits, are currently allowed.

There is currently a very high risk of fire spreading during windy conditions, especially when there is dead and dry grass and when crops have been harvested and are drying in the fields.

Because Vulcan County may move to a Fire Ban with little to no notice, it's advised to check on fire bans throughout Alberta prior to lighting a fire.

The Town of Vulcan is still not under any fire restriction or ban.
