The City of Estevan has put out another update on the 4th Street Downtown Revitalization project, this time dated July 23.

General:

ASL Paving continues to work on paving along with Turnbull Excavating who are acting as the underground utilities subcontractor for the project. Work is progressing westwards, with the road torn up currently halfway up the 1200 block. Crews are currently focused on underground sewer, storm, and water mains, and the services to buildings.

Access / Traffic Accommodation:

Sidewalks remain open where possible with the exception of some interruptions for service connections. Back alleys are open and currently operating as 2 way and functioning, with the option of making those 1 ways later in the project if needed.

Surfacing:

Crews have made progress fully removing asphalt on the 1100 block of 4th Street with removal on the 1200 block underway heading westwards. Crews have been salvaging aggregates when possible.

Sanitary Sewer:

New lines have been installed for Mains and service from the intersection of 4th and 11th up to the intersection of 4th and 12th.

Storm Sewers:

Sewers similarly have gotten new lines up to around the front doors of the Tower Restaurant.

Water:

Buildings have received temporary water services which were installed, chlorinated, tested, and confirmed working on the entire project. This included new isolation valves. Mains and services have been replaced all along the project up to the intersection of 4th and 12th. The project will be shifting a hydrant near the Royal Bank of Canada to spatially accommodate the project.

Electrical:

Crews have removed the existing light poles on both blocks. Some strategic lights have been left at the theatre to allow for the lighting of evening shows.

Landscaping & Furnishings:

According to the update, no work is currently underway.

Environmental Biology:

According to the update, there are no issues or updates.

Environmental contaminated sites:

Contamination has been handled by crews after being discovered in the intersection of 11th and 4th, with that being excavated and hauled to an approved disposal facility under another project.
